I Did Not Plan That! - A Camp Nano Update

Posted by Hannah Harvey on August 26, 2012 at 5:20 AM

Well I didn't expect this to happen, but here we are with less than a week left in Camp Nano, and my novel has taken on a new direction, new title, and new synopsis. I did not plan on that happening!

Basically after my writing yesterday, and having my sister read it through, we both agreed that my story has developed a lot further, beyond the original storyline of it being just about Arianna writing journal entires to Ben, while he was in a coma. So much more is happening in the book, that we both felt that the synopsis and title no longer worked, because the story is now about so much more than just the journal entries. It's taken a whole new, and I think better, direction which I am really excited about. So now I'd like to share with you the new cover and synopsis.

Previously my book was called 'Read This When You Wake' but now, after deciding my story isn't what I first set out for it to be, it is now going to be called 'After Summer'

And along with the new direction of the story and the new title/cover. I have also written a brand new synopsis.

Everything changes for Arianna when she loses one of her best friends in an accident, suddenly everything that felt happy and safe, is no longer there, and she can't handle it.

It used to be Ben, Summer and Arianna, always together, and now it's just Ben and Arianna left, and she needs to escape.

After Summer's death she pushes Ben away, cutting of her connection with who she used to be, but she can't keep running forever, not when the past is always ready to catch her up.

I am hoping that I will have the book finished by the end of the month, but I'm not sure it will be possible now, because I have so much more to write. If I don't get it done, then I will use September to finish it off, and then start on the editing, because I plan on publishing this novel once it is edited, as I also plan on publishing my June Camp novel as well.
